During my college years, I had the privilege of spending a year in Japan as an exchange student, where my interest in pottery was reignited.
Fast forward about 30 years when my sweet husband gave me a gift certificate for a pottery lesson to learn how to throw on the wheel. From then on, I was hooked! For the next ten years, I continued to learn, practice, and create. Today, I can most often be found in my studio in the basement of our home, doing what I love to do.
I enjoy both wheel-throwing and hand-building both functional and decorative pieces. I love the rich textures and images that can be incorporated into my work, including leaves, grasses and weeds gathered from our property. I’m always on the lookout for new textures, and a current favorite is with rolling pins from sweetrollingpins.com.

Glazing is a very exciting element of my work, and the possibilities are endless, especially when layering multiple glazes. Each time I open the kiln, it’s like Christmas morning!
All of my work is dishwasher, microwave, and oven-safe (just don’t put a cold dish into a hot oven…let them heat up together!)

Nowadays, my husband and I enjoy our home on five acres in Castle Rock, Colorado, with a gorgeous view of the Rocky Mountains from our back deck (and from my studio). We are empty-nesters who enjoy working on DIY projects together, and singing in our church choir. Our favorite past-time, though, is thinking about, talking about, and visiting our 3 grandchildren who live in Texas and Oklahoma (along with our two sons and two daughters-in-law).
